OOTD 12/16/2011 - Vintage Prep

How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.  I love thee to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach....

I was very lucky to run across this gorgeous coat on ebay a couple of months back.  I love everything about it...plaid, ruffles, cut/fit...everything!  Even better, I paid under $70....I couldn't check out fast enough.

You heard it here first...I have a great idea for J Crew.  I think they should introduce a "Vintage Crew" line.  They could revisit some of the tried and true, classic styles from past seasons.  This coat would be a great place to start!  I think this "Vintage Crew" line could draw some strong revenue...I know I would be on-board.  So, J Crew, if you're listening....we're waiting!  and don't worry...for conceptualizing the idea, I'll only be requesting a small percentage of the profits.  :o)

  1. Love the coat -- so fabulous!! And love the Vintage J.Crew line idea. I'd be on board for that! (As long as they don't price it double what the originals were priced, haha)

  3. I bought mine a few months ago, too, sadly for a bit more, but still within a reasonable amount! :)

It just did up over my baby belly, so I was STOKED!

I do want to say a word on sizing, I bought the ten and it is just a tad loose on me (pre-baby belly) and the size 8 would be perfect. Current J. Crew sizing is so much bigger where I will wear a 4 or 6 in the coats. I really love this coat and want others to get it...just want to warn everyone that there is absolutely no vanity sizing here.

YOU look darling...must try the look with some similar pieces from my closet!

  4. Oh I absolutely love this coat :-) Such a great find!! And I love how you paired it with the yellowy turtle neck, it just brings out the warmth! I have a bit of a coat obsession, this one I might have to keep my eye out for on ebay to see if it pops up. A plaid coat is something that is missing from my collection... hmmmm lol

  5. Oh, and I am SO on board with the Vintage j.crew line. That would be amazing. There are so many pieces I missed out on, it would be great to either duplicate them, or reinvent very similar pieces! I agree that there are a lot of people out there who would go for it. We could always start a petition :-)

  6. That coat is sooo you and sooo cute! Love it. And I'm a little bit envious. ;) The vintage line would be fabulous if the workmanship and fabrics matched the original, which would likely make the pieces rather unaffordable :/
