Shoes...20% off and Free Shipping...Yes, Please!

Forgive me...I've been slack with my irl photos.  I've been a bit under the weather with a nasty cold.  However, despite my cold, today was a good day!  It was my first day of the season in a turtleneck...and a cute one at that...J Crew's dream turtleneck in heathered nordic blue!  What a beautiful color...it's more muted than this picture depicts.  I love me a good turtleneck!

Also noteworthy...A 20% discount and free shipping...yes, please!  And surprise, surprise...it's not J Crew!
I ordered these cuties today from Nordstrom...they were 20% off and use the Free Shipping code "SHOES" to receive FS on your order as well.  What a deal!  If you're interested, they come in red, black and gray too.

OOTD 9/24/2010 and the answer to the question, "Why God Made Little Boys?"

So, today I popped into my J Crew store and picked up the Moss Tweed Pencil Skirt...with my red card, of course.  I got it for $88.50...that's a savings of $29.50...cha-ching!!  Now, if I can just get the weather to cooperate (ie...cool-down), so that I can wear it.  The colors in this skirt are gorgeous...blues, purples and greens!  If you haven't seen it IRL, you need to check it out...the pictures don't do it justice.

As for the OOTD, I was really pleased with the way this outfit turned out.  The colors "played nice together" and I received several compliments on my new ATL cardi.  FYI...if you're interested in this cardigan, you might want to consider sizing up.  I could wear my normal size S but decided there may be an occasion when I'd like to button it and sized up to the M.

Now, for the answer to the question of why God made little boys.  Any of you who have little boys know that they are a "different animal" that full of spirit sometimes does not describe.  I intended to post this poem yesterday along with the picture of my son and forgot...oops...but hopefully, you can enjoy it today.  I love this poem and how it puts into words the essence of our sweet, rambunctious little boys.

God made the world out of His dreams
Of magic mountains, oceans and streams,
Prairies and plans and wooded land,
Then paused and thought "I need someone to stand
On top of mountains, to conquer the seas,
Explore the plains and climb the trees.
Someone to start out small and to grow,
Sturdy, strong as a tree…" And so,
He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
To explore and conquer, to romp and run.
With dirty faces and banged up chins,
With courageous hearts and boyish grins.
When He had completed the task He'd begun
He surely said "A job well done".

OOTD 9/22/2010

So, today was officially the first day of fall and what was the temperature here....95!  That's not fall weather!  I think it's supposed to cool down some next week, so that will be a welcome relief.

This is actually yesterday's outfit.  I am so behind...this week has been a whirlwind of busyness.

Also, this pic is for Fabumom in NC.  This is my son, who is now sixteen, dressed up for Halloween as Batman at age four. (which I believe is the same age as fabumom's son)  Is that cute, or what?!  :o)

OOTD 9/18/2010

Hello everybody....Happy Saturday!  Today was a day for errands, a visit to the grocery store and we purchased my son his first car.  He is over the moon and his Dad and I are the best!  (today...tomorrow may be a different story  :o) )  Today's outfit was cuter IRL than this picture gives credit for....for some reason "the cuteness" didn't transcend through the camera lens.  Nevertheless, here you go.......

OOTD 9/17/2010

TGIF!!!  I woke up this morning with a crick in my neck and an overall rundown feeling.  Hopefully, it's nothing but I'm worried because the people around me at work are dropping like flies.  That said, I thought a cute outfit might be a pick-me-up.  I love all of the pieces in this outfit individually and together.  If you don't have a pair of cords in this color, (these are last year's glazed pecan, or hazelnut, or walnut...one of those nut colors) they are a must have for your fall wardrobe.  They literally go with everything!  And perhaps if you're a little crazy like me, you'll need them not only in the matchstick but also in the bootcut and a trouser style as well.  I know, I know, I need help!

Some Puppy Love and an OOTD 9/14/2010

Today is the second day in a row that I haven't been able to access my polyvore from my work computer.  I keep getting an error message related to internet explorer and the operation aborts.  Enough already!  You mean they actually want me to work and not spend excessive amounts of time on polyvore?

Today's outfit was inspired by the lovely Slastena.  I first saw this little tank on her here.  I really like the color combination of the black sequins (outlined with what else, some black chiffon) on the vintage fatigue.  BTW, these tanks run big so size down.

Also noteworthy, I received this email from Anthropologie:

I think this is great!  I love it that Anthropologie is teaming up with local animal organizations to promote pet adoption, as well as, raise funds and supplies for area shelters.  I am a huge animal lover and we have adopted our last four pets by way of a rescue agency or the "two boys" that you see, were just good 'ole strays.  Take some time to check out the Anthro site to see what events are planned in your area.  It never hurts to help!  Who knows, you might just find a handsome face like one of these!

OOTD 9/13/2010

Happy Monday!  I had lots of technical difficulties this morning and never really got a decent picture, so I'll say my apologies up front.  Some of the pictures were too dark, some were too far away and the one I ultimately used cut out the beautiful Mila heels.  I'm not sure if it was the camera or my photographer was still in a sleep induced fog.  Perhaps, it was a combination of the two.  Although the pictures don't do it justice, today's outfit was really cute.  Cross your fingers that tomorrow's photo session will yield better results!

OOTD 9/11/2010

Today's outfit was an out-right copy of tjmcd's set seen here.  It was so cute that I just had to recreate the look with items from my closet.  So here's my version:

ATL V-neck cardigan in feather green, J Crew rolling ruffles tank in warm blush, J Crew vintage matchstick in broken indigo wash and J Crew serengeti capri sandals

Also, I wanted to share my beautiful flowers that I picked up today at the supermarket.  I love having fresh cut flowers around the house...they just seem to add a little something.  I actually planted some sunflowers this spring but some crazy old crows pulled every one of the sprouts right out of the ground.  Alas, I had to buy them instead of cutting my own.  Maybe next year, I'll give it another whirl!

OOTD 9/9/2010

Well, I am officially ready for fall!  Actually, I have been since about mid-May.  I mean look at that skin?!  Does it look like I enjoy hanging out in the sun....I'm ghost white!  However, as I've grown older, I've learned to embrace my fair skin.  I only wish I taken my Dad's advice when I was younger and stayed out of the sun, or at the very least, protected my skin against sun damage.  (I used to bake in the sun with baby oil...omg, how horrible)  Word of warning to you 20 somethings, (especially fair skinned ones) take care of your skin, you'll be in your 40's one day too and the damage will start to rear its ugly head.

Oops, I'm off on a tangent...back to OOTD.  I thought this outfit turned out really cute and I think it screams fall.  So here you have it.....

OOTD 9/8/2010

When I first saw the fleurette print skirt, I was like, "meh", I can take it or leave it.  However, with the markdown and several cute sets on polyvore, I started to see it in a different light.  (Imagine that!)  I had orginally planned on wearing it with my with the bright blue jackie and the taupe Alessia patent heels.
But, as a lady is entitled to do...I changed my mind and went with the royal purple jackie and my Anthropologie wishbone wedges.  I felt it had more of a fall vibe to it, where the other felt a little more "spring-y" to me.  (I know, I know...I'm such a girl!)  :o)

OOTD 9/5/2010

I tell ya,  I get a few days of vacation and what do I do?  Fall further behind on my polyvoring and blogging!  This is what I wore yesterday to church....the rest of my outfits have been just "hanging around the house" outfits. (You definitely don't want to see those)  Anyway, so here you have it...I figure I better wear those white jeans while I can.
J Crew Tiered Bateau Shell, J Crew Dream Cardi in Cinnamon Spice, ON white jeans, J Crew Rosebud Metallic Capri Sandal in Graphite

Oh, and one more thing of note...I stopped by Krispy Kreme and got some of these oh so cute (and oh so delicious) football doughnuts.  My husband says I'm suckered in by packaging...but how could I resist these?!   Believe me, he ate his fair share!

OOTD 9/2/2010

Wow, it's September already!  Where has this year gone?!  I've always heard as you get older, the days go faster...boy, is that ever a true statement.  Anyway, September means cooler temperatures and fall sweaters...ya-hoo!!!  However, for today, it's still quite warm here (mid 90"s) so here is what I wore today...

All J Crew...Jackie in spicy olive, Switzel Swiss-Dot Cami, Denim Pencil Skirt, Joley Pearlized Patent Pumps in warm brick
