OOTD 8/28/2010

Today's outfit was inspired by a friend on polyvore...thanks ccbmum!  I love (shout-it-from-the-rooftops) my space-dyed tee!  It is so soft...like it's been broken in and worn for years.  I paired it with my Ann Taylor Loft  V-neck cardigan in Feather green...these are the cardigans that I reviewed in an earlier post.  Surprise, surprise, I decided to keep the green. I really liked this outfit and will definitely be wearing this again...and again!  :o)

J Crew Spotted in Southern Living

As I was flipping through my latest September issue of  "Southern Living", I spotted J Crew.  For those of you who don't know, Southern Living is a magazine about what else, living in the south.  The articles feature anything from places in the south to visit, gardening for plants that grow in the south, southern style cooking, etc.  Anyway, much to my surprise, there it was...spotted J Crew.

J Crew Icon Trench $298 Crafted from Japanese cotton that looks as amazing as it feels, our newest trench boasts lots of smart dressmaker details and modern styling features (like the shirring at the neck) that make this icon one you'll wear year after year. Rounded collar with topstitching. Self belt with adjustable closure. Back flange. Interior piping. Long sleeves. Vertical flap pockets. Back vent with functional tab closure. Fully lined. Hits at thigh. Import. Machine wash.

Exhibitor pouchette $198 For those of us who love keeping our carryall options open, we're thrilled to introduce this cleverly tough-chic design chameleon in luscious leather with a glossy gold zipper and chain hardware. This shape-shifting little dynamo features a zipper-accented cross-body strap that can be attached to the middle of the bag to create a smaller fold-over style. Crafted in smooth, luxurious leather, it has antiqued-finish gold-plated hardware, a top snap and zip closure and two exterior zip pockets. At any size, this über-versatile two-in-one wonder is our hands-down must-have this season. Cotton twill lining. Import. Comes with dust bag. 22" handle drop. 12"H x 8"W x 1 1/4"D.

Based on the picture, I think I actually prefer the daughter's pick of trench, although I'm much closer to the mother's age. (Shhhh!)   I like the added details of the ties on the sleeves and the shorter length.  The purse, no way...I could never get all of my junk in there.  I definitely need the mom's purse.

I tell ya, you just never know where J Crew will pop up next!

OOTD 8/27/2010

Oops, runaway dog....so I solved the issue of a photographer only to find that it's very difficult to get a picture without a dog by my side.  We have two (thus two of the boys) and as I travel around the house, they travel with me.  (I don't go anywhere without an entourage)

This morning, Raleigh, found his way into the picture.  He is a golden retriever mix (that was the vet's best guess) and he is a sweetheart.  We have had him since he was about six months old and he just turned seven.  My dogs have a way of finding me, instead of me finding them....I'm a sucker for a stray and a sob story!  He was a rambunctious little puppy but has mellowed into a sweet, well mannered guy in his old age...and oh boy, does he have to endure lots of madness from his 125 lb. baby brother.  I'll give you his story another day.  So here's today outfit, dog and all.....

OOTD 8/26/2010

A big 'ole shout-out to "shopwithm" for help with today's outfit.  She posted a set on polyvore (here) and I just knew I HAD to have this Anthro sweater since it went so perfectly with the J Crew silk-tie top.  (I had someone today at work ask me if I bought them together)

Believe it or not, the field game sweater is the first purchase I've ever made from Anthropologie.  I've perused their catalogs but I always seem to get confused in the store.  Something about the layout/organization of the store doesn't jive with my brain. I'm an accountant, what can I say.  Anyway, thanks m, I LOVE the two of these together!

OOTD 8/25/2010

So, I think I've employed a new photographer.  My son started school today so I got him to snap an outfit of the day pic before I scurried out the door.  Just what your sixteen year old son wants to do....take pictures of mom's outfits.  Actually, he was very accommodating!  So here you go....

OOTD 8/20/2010

My son and I had some errands to run...parking pass for school, pickup his eagle scout project and a trip to the mall for what else, J Crew returns.  While we were there we also ate at 5 guys....if you haven't tried one of their burgers, I highly recommend them.  (Greasy, yes...but oh so good!)

Spicy Olive Jackie, Faded Floral Tee in Charcoal, Distressed Scout Chino in Nickel and
Lucaya Metallic Espadrilles

Also in my travels today, I found this really cool bracelet at The Loft for $34.50.  It's braided chains of various sizes in pewter/silver and antique gold tightly woven together.  It also has a super handy magnetic closure that makes it easy to get on and off.
It actually reminds me of J Crew's braided chain-and-pearl bracelet minus the pearls and for half the price.

We finished off the day with a stop by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a Snickers Caramel Apple

Um-um good!

It's my birthday....well, it was

I'm back!   We went to the beach for my birthday and one last "hoorah" before school starts next week.  We had a great time...full of fun, rest and relaxation.  My birthday was comprised of lots of food,  including ice cream for lunch (yep, you read that right...and it was delicious), lots of lounging (I was sooo lazy) and even a ride on the lazy river (see, I told you I was lazy)...it was a great day!

We had dinner at Landry's, a restaurant located at Broadway at the Beach.  I had the Blackened Chicken Fettuccine and Banana's Foster for dessert (big 'ole yum) and for the occasion this is what I wore.

J Crew Breeze Cardi, Eyelet Bow Blouse, Khaki shorts, Trap Glass Necklace and Capri Sandals (also please excuse the towels, swimsuits, etc....they don't make for a nice backdrop...sorry!)

The Beloved J Crew Trap Glass Necklace

Me and my son...he's so handsome!  However, I do wish he'd worn something other than a dirt bike t-shirt.  Oh well, that's what I get for letting him pack his clothes without any input.

So, I'm back...but I still have a few more days before I have to head back to work...Thank Goodness!

The Perfect Sweater

So, as I mentioned in an earlier post, next Monday is my birthday and in a kind gesture from the Loft I received a coupon for $15 off any purchase during my birthday month.  Now that's a nice gift!  Well, it would be rude not to use the coupon, right?!  Besides, I wanted to check out their v-neck cardigans.

Perfection!  It's made of 53% cotton, 41% viscose and 6% wool and it's machine washable.  The material is lightweight but not see-through thin.  I went with my normal Loft size for a slimmer more fitted silhouette.  It's just the length I was looking for....I'm 5'5" and it hits me at the upper thigh.  Top all of that off with two front pockets and covered buttons and you have the makings of the perfect sweater.

So, perfect in fact, that I ordered the vintage yellow, the oak brown melange and the feather green.  Not sure if I'm going to keep the green but the other three have already found their place in my closet.

A Shoe Review

Considering the fact that 90 percent of the stuff in my closet is J Crew (shoes included), it seems somewhat ironic that one of the first few posts on my blog would be the review of a non-J Crew item.  Nevertheless, that's the case.  I happened to run across the Wishbone Wedges on the Antropologie website and immediately knew I had to make them mine.  Besides my forty-uh um birthday is next week, so what better way to celebrate than with a new pair of shoes?!
It's ok to pin your hopes on Lucky Penny's twined leather peep-toes. With such rich color and classic style, they're sure to come true with each wear.

  • Adjustable buckle
  • Leather upper, insole
  • Synthetic sole
  • 3.5" stacked leather wedge
  • Brazil
style #940155    $148.00

They arrived today and they did not disappoint.  They have a very "vintagy" vibe going on and the leather is as soft as "buttah".  The heel is gorgeous...a perfect height and the rings in the wooden heel, perfection!  I'll have to follow up with a comfort rating, as I haven't worn them for any length of time yet.  I'm planning on giving them a test run tomorrow and wearing them to work.  If they turn out to be half as comfortable as they are cute then it will be "two thumbs up" for these lovelies.

OOTD 8/8/2010

Here's my outfit of the day...it includes my beloved rosette tee from a couple of years ago, my "uniform" pants so  named by my husband.  (I have worn them A LOT this summer.)  Also, my newly acquired Anthropologie field game cardi (thanks to shopping with M for pointing me in the direction of this one....LOVE IT!)  and my lucaya espadrilles.

Sorry, my "photographer" and I are still working on perfecting our "photo shoots".  Plus it didn't help that, at this point, we were about 10 minutes late getting out the door...so it was a rush job.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday....Blessings!

OOTD 8/7/2010

I still love this rolling ruffles tank!  It's an oldie, but a goodie!
It's so cute and summery!  And I love that the metallic guava sandals are a nice match.  As a side note, bear with me on these irl...hopefully, I'll get the hang of it!
