OOTD 3/29/2012 - On The BandWagon

Well, it's official...I'm on the bandwagon!  For both the J Crew Viv Flats and J Crew's Bubble Necklace!  I'm seeing multiples of both in my future!

J Crew Cable Cashmere Cardigan in Green - Size M
Merona for Target Chambray Shirt - Size S
J Crew Classic Cafe Capri in Black - Size 2
J  Crew Bubble Necklace in Turquoise
J Crew Viv Bow Flats in Black

The Viv Bow Flats are to die for!  A very chic and feminine silhouette topped with a large leather bow and trimmed with a grosgrain knotted ribbon.  Once again, J Crew used high quality materials...leather soles and insoles.  and the leather uppers feel like "butta".  I love the classic pointed toe on these flats...I think the design is timeless.  You girls out there who aren't able to wear heels should definitely check these out...they would dress up a pencil skirt like nobody's business!  For the perfect fit...make sure to order up one half size from your normal shoe size.

Looking for a statement necklace?  This is it!
I wasn't sure if I could pull it off and I wasn't willing to pay $150 to try, so I purchased this cheap look-a-like from ebay.  I really like it...I am already planning to purchase the yellow and the orange version.  It dresses up an otherwise basic outfit and gives some panache to the simple.  I think it will be oh-so-cute this summer with a basic white tee and khaki shorts.

Have you tried the Viv Flats or the Bubble Necklace?  If so, are you on the bandwagon?

OOTD 3/28/2012 - Feelin' Dotty

From the moment that I laid eyes on J Crew's Linen Polka Dot Popover, I was in love.  So imagine my disappointment when I read ajc's review, only to find out that I would be arrested for indecent exposure if I wore it out of the house.

Well, after I mulled it over and reconciled myself to the fact that I would have to layer something underneath, I was all in!  Aside, from the sheer factor, this sweater is absolutely adorable!  Flattering fit (tts), great neutral colors and polka dots...what's not to love about polka dots?!

J Crew Factory Stripe Perfect Shirt in Blue - Size S
J Crew No2 Double Serge Wool Pencil Skirt in Spicy Gold - Size 4

If you can get past the fact that you will have to layer, this is a great sweater.  What are your thoughts on the Linen Polka Dot Popover?

Review: Ann Taylor Loft Spring/Summer Shoes

Ann Taylor Loft has some super cute new shoes!  Today, I'll be reviewing the Rylee Slingback Espadrilles and the Cork Print Vaughn Sandals.

First up, the Cork Print Vaughn Sandals.  They are a classic T-strap sandal and retail for $29.50.

The good...I really like the cork print!  From a distance, I don't think that most people will realize it's not real. I think they will be a great, cheap (I paid just over $20) neutral sandal for spring and summer.  Fit is tts.

The bad...they are all man made materials.  I'm not sure that they are worth the $30 retail price; however, with ATL there is almost always a coupon code for an additional percent off floating around out there.

Please excuse the rolled bootcut jeans, the freezing white toes (I have Raynaud's Syndrome) and the desperate need of a pedicure...I'm a hot mess! :o)

Next, the Rylee Slingback Wedge Espadrilles.  A great shoe for summer and they retail for $69.50.

The good...what's not to love?!  It's an espadrille and a slingback combined.  Its made with a canvas upper and a leather cap toe. (Love)  The heel is jute covered...a la espadrille.  and it has some added cushion in the footbed for additional comfort.  I  think that even though these are relatively high, with the wedge heel and added cushion, they will be very wearable.  Fit is tts.

The bad...I really don't have anything bad to say.  They do have some man made materials but for $55 (that's what I paid) I can live with that.

The Rylee comes in two colors Pure Ivory (featured) and Grey.

What are your thoughts?  Like or not?  Have you checked out ATL shoes lately?

OOTD 3/27/2012 - Spring In My Step

The weather in NC has taken a turn to the cool side. (We have been spoiled with these unseasonably warm temps)  Nevertheless, I didn't want to go back to the turtlenecks and tights so I pulled out my mint colored Alexie and some oldie-goldie ATL pumps.  I'm still springy but toasty too!

J Crew Alexie Sweater in Mint - Size S
Land's End Canvas Dot Shirt - Size S
J Crew Classic Cafe Capri in Black - Size 2
Ann Taylor Loft Black/White Pumps (Old)

This outfit is proof positive that you don't have to spend a fortune to be stylish.  The sweater was an ebay find for $10 and some change....The polka dot shirt was $16....and most recently the cafe capris from J Crew were $40.  The shoes are ATL from about six or seven years ago...they're so old that I don't remember what I paid for them.  Nevertheless, even with the shoes, this outfit easily comes in at under $100.

A fashionista's dream....cute, stylin' and inexpensive!

Grrrr Times Two

Over the years of fashion blogging, I have learned so much from this wonderful group of women.  One of the lessons that I have learned, is to treat animal prints as a neutral.

Before, as so many women do, I would see a beautiful pair of leopard print shoes and I would gush over them and think, "What could I wear with these?"  And typically, the answer was always black.

My, how things have changed!  Two days in a row, I've worn leopard print pumps...once with pink and stripes and once with orangey-red.

Review: J Crew Schoolboy Blazer in Tipped Linen

Finally, as promised, I'm getting around to my review of the Schoolboy Blazer in Tipped Linen.

How much time have we got?  I LOVE this blazer!  Fit, shape, color, everything!  The only downside that I can possibly see, is that the linen material may wrinkle easily.  I'll have to follow up on that tid-bit.

This blazer is 100% linen.  It is flax in color and accented in black grosgrain trim.  The buttons are covered in the same grosgrain fabric.  It is fully lined in a cute striped material.  If you choose to turn back the cuffs, you have the charming contrast of the stripes against the linen.

The fit is tts...I took my normal schoolboy size.  and with the neutral coloring, I think it will be very versatile.  It is also lightweight, so it should be a great spring/summer wardrobe addition.

What are your thoughts on J Crew's Schoolboy Blazer in Tipped Linen?

OOTD 3/23/2012 - Care For A Mint

Still love these candy tees!  and I love how the silver in the tee matches the silver sandals.  I think the pearls add some interest and lend a polished look to an otherwise casual outfit.

OOTD 3/22/2012 - Table For Two, Please

Back in the fall, I looked HIGH and low for a red gingham check shirt and through sale-out and back-order, I was finally able to lay my hands on the one from J Crew.

It is very cute!  My co-workers call it my tablecloth shirt.  (Thus, the title)  I figure you shouldn't take yourself too seriously, so mostly, I just laugh along with them.

Looking for a great neutral sandal for spring and summer?  I definitely recommend the Irene Mid-Heeled Sandals from Ann Taylor Loft.  (See my review here) I swear, I think I wore them two or three times last week.  They seem to go with everything and they are remarkably comfortable, as well as, affordable...a win, win, win!

OOTD 3/21/2012- Spring Stripes

Today I pulled out my seersucker skirt.  This was one of my best Summer 2011 purchases.

I really like this look...classic, clean lines and crisp colors.  I kept everything basic and added a statement shoe.  (Love these orange shoes)  If you don't have a pair, some orange shoes (pumps, sandals...whatever best fits your lifestyle) would be a wise purchase for spring and summer.

In case you didn't know...the color of the year is tangerine.  Every year the Pantone Color Institute chooses a standout color and for 2012, it's tangerine.  I love it...it's fresh and unexpected!

OOTD 3/20/2012 - Pops of Color

I'm playing this color trend to the hilt.  Today I mixed yellow and blue and threw some stripes in for good measure.

I've come a long way from a girl who's wardrobe used to consist of about 75% black.  When I brought a new purchase home, my husband would say, "Surprise, surprise, you got black"!  Well he can't say that anymore.  :o)

Review: J Crew Jewel Necklace Tee

Are you striped out yet?  If not, you may be interested in J Crew's Jewel Necklace Tee.  Its part of the J Crew Collection and at $138 the price is steep.

That being said, it is super cute and the fit is tts. (I'm wearing my normal Small).  It is 100% cotton in a medium weight which supports the weight of the jewels nicely (no sagging, drooping, etc) and no thin, see-thru material.  Hopefully, the pic captures the texture of the material.

It is white with black stripes and the jewels are white and off-white.  I'm also a fan of the elbow sleeves.  I really like this tee a lot but even with the current promo (price $110), the price is still a bit high.  However, if it makes it to markdown (into double digits), I may bite.

What are your thoughts?  Do you like this tee?

To come....I'll be reviewing J Crew's Schoolboy Blazer in Tipped Linen.
