OOTD 2/24/2012 - Mr. No Name

I don't want to hit you with whining right off the bat, so I'll start with the good.  A cute outfit with my zebra friend.  I'm not sure why but I feel the need to name him.  So, if you have any ideas, please share...I'd love to hear your thoughts.

J Crew Factory Sequin Zebra Tee - Size S
J Crew Wool Herringbone Blazer in Raspberry - Size 4
J Crew Matchstick Jeans - Size 27
Old Navy Polka-Dot Scarf
J Crew Biella Black Patent Loafers

Now...let the whining begin!  Where are all of the polka dots in the new roll-out?  No polka-dot sweater...No polka-dot dress...these were the two things that I was pumped to try.  At first I was a little bummed when I read ajc's review of the sweater.  She mentioned that it was very sheer.  However, after I reconciled myself to the fact that I would have to do some layering and created some super cute pv sets, I was excited all over again.  And then...cricket, cricket....nothing!  No polka-dots to be found!  Does anybody know what that's all about?

Another positve to mention...I did notice that the Factory has a new sweater called the Thandie.  It looks very much like the retail Tippi.

Tippi $72.50

Thandie $44.50

The Thandie also comes in a cute stripe as well.

What are your thoughts on the new roll-out?

  1. The factory thandie takes featherweight cotton to a whole new level of sheerness. I tried several colors and was thoroughly disappointed. In the white you could clearly see my bra and everything, and it wasn't much better in the other colors. If only they had made this sweater in a reasonable 12 gauge knit, I'd be all over it!

    1. Good to know...I got a factory v-neck pullover in white a month or so ago...same thing, very thin. I kept it because I got it so cheap, but there will definitely have to be some layering going on!

  2. Have the zebra tee as well and love him. I too feel he needs a name...
Agree on the polka-dot issue. I am dying for the polka dot skirt but nothing. Maybe April but seriously...

  3. The polka dotted dress was spotted in the Greenville, SC J.Crew earlier today by my mom. She specifically called to tell me, haha! So maybe it is only in some stores?

Also, just realized you're wearing my favorite pink blazer. Cute!

    1. That is so funny that she called to tell you about the polka dot dress! :o) How about the polka dot sweater...did she see that one? If she did, I may have to ring up J Crew in SC. :o)
I love, love, love this blazer! and it's as you know, it's just as pretty on the inside.

  4. I bought the Thandie in the bright pink color last weekend and I was very impressed with how close it was to the Tippi. It's pretty much exact. I have two Tippi sweaters and the fit and feel is almost identical. I didn't have a problem with it being too sheer. It's a thin sweater and one of the colors of my Tippi usually needs a cami underneath, so I just assumed the same would be the case with this new one. I'm super excited they came out with a factory version and that it's been on sale.

    1. Thanks for the info! The next time J Crew offers an additional percent off, I may bite on one of the darker colors. (the purple or viridian green :o))

  6. I got the Thandie for $30 in the store, so that was a no brainer. I think I cannot afford anything I like in the new rollout, unfortunately.

    1. I'm definitely going to have to give the Thandie a try! As for J Crew's price hikes, tell me about it! It's getting a bit ridiculous...the price is going up and the quality is going down.
