Review: J Crew Pom-Pom Shell

I was glad to see J Crew bring the Pom-pom shell back.  I missed out on its original debut a couple of years ago and didn't want to repeat my mistake.
J Crew describes it as:
Based on a design from years past—we loved it so much the first time, we went to the archives to bring it back. Tailored to perfection and crisscrossed with rows of delicate pom-poms (a retro touch we can't get enough of), this pretty top dresses up denim and livens up simple summer looks with a touch of textural interest.
  • Cotton
  • Slim Fit
  • Exposed Back Zip
  • Lined
  • Machine Wash

It retails for $128 and comes in citrus lime (yellow), sparkling sea (periwinkle) and white.
As for fit, I'm wearing a size 6...I would suggest going with the larger of your two sizes.  It is fully lined and made from a substantial weight cotton, so no danger of being arrested for indecent exposure due to sheerness if you choose to wear it alone.

Worth mentioning...because I know some of you don't care for it, this top does have the exposed back zip.

I love the neckline...very Jackie O.  I think this is a classic piece that can be worn for years to come.
What are your thoughts about the pom-pom shell?

  2. Love this top! So cute on you. Very summery and goes well with anything. I would think this top is so delicate that it can only be hand-washed?

    1. You know I thought that it was strange that they had machine wash on the care instructions. I would definitely dry clean or at the very least, as you say, hand wash.

  3. Love it! It kind of reminds me of the same shape as the ultra eyelet top, which I love! I agree, very Jackie O! You're too cute!
Here's a picture of me wearing the eyelet version incase you are interested:

    1. Thanks for the link...you look adorable! and I love it belted...I don't think I would have thought about that. Hmmm, if I had the ultra eyelet in chili, I could wear it with my eyelet pencil in chili. :o)
