Pattern mixing is a huge trend right now! and being the J Crew addict that I am, it was a must that I embrace this trend because they are all over it!
Combining colors and patterns in a way that looks dynamic takes some practice, but there are some basic tricks to getting it right. You can wear two prints that repeat the same colors or mix a large scale pattern with a smaller one.
Here are a couple examples of my pattern mixing....
J Crew Factory Seersucker Pencil Skirt- Size 4
J Crew Classic Half Pave Necklace
Ann Taylor Loft T-Strap Pumps
J Crew Perfect Paisley Shirt - Size 6
Old Navy Skinny Jeans in Black
J Crew Calf Hair Mary Jane Pumps
Love the paisley shirt with the polka dot sweater. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lindsay...my newest tippi acquisition! :o)
DeleteI like the ON dot sweater with the seersucker skirt. Old Navy sure is stepping it up lately. I might "steal" that look from ya! :)
ReplyDeleteSteal away! :o) ON is so at the top of their game right now! I got another cute ruffled polka dot shirt there too...Very J Crew-esque!
DeleteI love both of these outfits! I'm completely obsessed with polka dots so I'm loving your sweater :-)
ReplyDeleteMaria...I obsessed with polka dots too! as well as, stripes and animal print! :o)
DeleteHi there! I found you via Marionberry style, and love this print mixing! I actually just picked up that polka dot sweater at Old Navy yesterday, and am definitely pinning your look for future inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't this sweater great?! Cute and inexpensive...a girl's dream!
DeleteI am going to have to go to your house and ransack your tippi collection! And those animal print mary janes - droooool!
ReplyDeleteThe tippi collection...she's a-growin'! :oP As for the shoes, I drool too! I stalked these shoes for two looonng years! and thanks to one of my JCA friends, I was finally able to track down a pair. Persistence pays off! :o)
Deletewow we have similar taste! i bought that green old navy top and i was REALLLLLLLY close to purchasing the beige one from jcrew!! great choices! they look great on u! <3
ReplyDeletethanks for following me, i'm following u back =)
Great minds think alike! :o) We do have similar taste...I was close to purchasing the deck stripe shorts you're wearing in your post today, but in the end I went with the skirt in the same print. :o)
DeleteFabulous! How is the quality on the Old Navy sweaters? You look adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannie! I thought the quality was not bad, especially in comparison to the price. It's 100% cotton, lightweight without being too thin. and very soft!
DeleteI wore that ON sweater (in white) on Monday! I of course would much rather have that beautiful J.Crew sweater but it's a bit out of my price range. I love how you mixed the polka dot sweater with those shoes - the pieces are far enough away from each other that each can shine on their own!
ReplyDeleteYep, me too...at $268, it's a bit out of my price range too! These ON sweaters are great...that was the hardest part for me, deciding which color to get! :o) I also got the gray sweater with the fuchsia heart...another J Crew look-a-like! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat look!! I love polka dots! I'm actually obsessed. ;). I'd love for you to stop by my blog and see what you think!
