Happy Friday, Friends!  I am going to be mia for a while...we are leaving tomorrow to cruise the Caribbean for the next week.  When I return, I should have lots of pics to share.

Review: J Crew Lucille Dress in Scalloped Eyelet

I was excited about this dress after seeing how cute it was on some other bloggers.  Unfortunately for me, it wasn't quite as grand.

J Crew describes it as:

We were instantly charmed by this shift's feminine, retro-inspired feel—not to mention its classic, flattering fit. Softly shirred around the waist with a dot-embroidered eyelet and a tiny scalloped edge at the neck for a sweet finish.

It retailed for $188 but has been marked down to $119.99 and comes in brilliant purple, as well as, white.

I'm wearing a size 4, which seemed to fit well in the shoulders and chest...but then below the waist it seemed to balloon out a bit and I had this little pooch.  and no one wants a pooch!!  My waist/stomach is where I carry my extra weight, so I don't need to draw any extra attention to that area.

Other than the pooch, it was a nice dress...good length, lightweight for summer but not see-thru and I love the pockets.

Have you tried the eyelet lucille dress?  If so, what were your thoughts?

Lots of orange today!  I love these Gap perfect oxford shirts...they are so soft!

Also, I tried a new nail polish that I really like. (My husband wasn't so crazy about it.)  It's Essie's Lapis of Luxery...somewhere between blue and purple.  and I think it will be perfect for our upcoming cruise!

Review: J Crew Pom-Pom Shell

I was glad to see J Crew bring the Pom-pom shell back.  I missed out on its original debut a couple of years ago and didn't want to repeat my mistake.

J Crew describes it as:

Based on a design from years past—we loved it so much the first time, we went to the archives to bring it back. Tailored to perfection and crisscrossed with rows of delicate pom-poms (a retro touch we can't get enough of), this pretty top dresses up denim and livens up simple summer looks with a touch of textural interest.

• Machine Wash

It retails for $128 and comes in citrus lime (yellow), sparkling sea (periwinkle) and white.

As for fit, I'm wearing a size 6...I would suggest going with the larger of your two sizes.  It is fully lined and made from a substantial weight cotton, so no danger of being arrested for indecent exposure due to sheerness if you choose to wear it alone.

Worth mentioning...because I know some of you don't care for it, this top does have the exposed back zip. 

I love the neckline...very Jackie O.  I think this is a classic piece that can be worn for years to come.

Review: J Crew Olympia Leather Wedge

Since their debut, I've had my eye on the Olympia Leather Wedge in radio red.

J Crew describes them as:

They retail for $198 but have been marked down to $129.99.  I caught them on the recent 30% off promo bringing them down to $90.99.

I love the red color and they seemed to be comfortable.  I am normally a 7 but decided the 7.5 was a better fit.

However, I've decided that they're going back.  Something about the ankle strap did not appeal to me once I got them on.  Oh well, I'm sure something else will catch my eye sooner rather than later.

Have you tried the Olympia Wedge?  If so, did you like them?

In theory, this outfit seemed like a good idea.  I like the yellow against the seersucker...it screams summer.  However, when I put it on this morning it seemed a bit reminiscent of "Rosie the Riveter".  I wore it anyway as it was too late to change.  

 But, I'm thinking if I just had the red bandanna?  Yep!



Review: J Crew No.2 Pencil Skirt in Deck Stripe

From the moment that I laid eyes on this skirt, I was smitten.  J Crew sent out a lookbook early in the year featuring upcoming spring and summer items and this striped baby caught my eye.

J Crew describes it as:

Styled in a linen and cotton blend with jaunty stripes born out of one designer's getaway to the Greek Isles. It retails for $118.

The fit is tts to a touch small.  The fit is identical to the no. 2 pencil skirt in eyelet, if you're familiar with that particular skirt.  I'm wearing the tangier orange which is very close to J Crew's former poppy...it wasn't a perfect match but very close to the orange of my Biella patent loafers.   This skirt also comes in coastline blue.  

Have you tried the pencil skirt in deck stripe?  If so, was it a yeh or neh?

Weekend Roundup

 I really like this Land's End Canvas shirt and even better it was only $8.  There's a green one just like it that I would like to have but its a whopping $12 since I don't have the 30% off code anymore.  BTW, does anybody know how the LE Canvas bottoms run in comparison to J Crew?  Wondering if I would purchase my normal J Crew bottom size or size up?
