Today I rode to Target, with a friend during our lunch break.  She had some items she needed to pick up and I was just along for the ride.  Big mistake, especially to go before I had eaten.  I  came out with pumpkin pie pop-tarts, pumpkin spice kisses and Frankenberry cereal...I'm going to need to walk an extra mile (or two) tonight.  But, but....I love pumpkin "stuff" and Frankenberry brings back childhood memories and now you can only purchase it once a year.  Justified? 

As for my OOTD, I wore the flower sketch tee for the first time.  I really like it and the sequins kind of have a green/yellow hint that matches the skirt.

Today's outfit was inspired by a catalog photo....I can do a "mean" copy!  :o)  I really like these cord pencil skirts...they seem to have a slimmer fit than some of the other pencil skirts that I own.  Note to self:  purchase more of these in other colors.  Speaking of color, this golden wood, imo is perfection!  It's reminiscent of the acorn and glazed pecan from past seasons.

The Brynn

Another recent purchase with the use of my "not-so-red" card was the Brynn cardigan.

She arrived yesterday and I am very pleased.  I can see it being my comfy, go-to cardigan this fall and winter.  It's made of 45% acrylic, 37% superfine alpaca, and 18% merino wool so it's pretty substantial and will be perfect for cool mornings/evenings.  I actually started to get a little warm while I was taking the pictures.  I love the contrast of the lighter front and the darker back and sleeves.  In addition to the color, the size of the knit is different too.  The lighter color has a chunkier knit which adds interest as well.  Oh, and it has these great little pockets on the front

Typically, I wear a Small in J Crew sweaters, but I decided the X-small offered more of the fit I was looking for.  The Small would have been fine if I'd wanted a more "relaxed" look.  This sweater has a touch of "grandpa's sweaters" vibe...but in a good way...so I thought a slightly more fitted look would be better.  Also, the length of the sleeves was better on the X-small.  On the Small, I would have had to roll back the cuff.  For reference, I'm 5'5", and the hem hits just under my rump.

Today's outfit turned out really cute!  I believe I have to give credit to ABC (A Bigger Closet)...I think it was an outfit I saw on her blog some time ago that inspired today's ensemble.

OOTD 10/8/2010

Whew...I'm glad the workday is over!  I had to go this morning to do some special business continuity testing, so that meant roughly an hour and a half drive in morning interstate traffic...ugg!  My conclusion...people can NOT drive and well, they're just down right crazy!  Typically, my commute to the office is about 45 minutes each way...but I'm able to take a lot of back roads so I don't have to deal with "as many" of the "loonies".

Today's outfit includes the lovely ATL striped corsage sweater.  When I purchased this sweater, I orginally got the ivory to wear with my J Crew oona tweed pencil skirt.  But in the end, I decided to return it and go with the charcoal....I mean how can you go wrong with gray!  Also, I thought the ivory was a tad "see-through".  Another tid-bit about this sweater, you might want to consider sizing down.  I did...and I think it offers a better fit.
